Agreed, but another common scenario is having a a DHCP server where you
define static assignments based on the mac address which allows a bit
more flexibility in terms of management.

Agreed, but you may want to check with desktop and doc teams what are
their feelings about this.

I understood the same, but I also have the feeling that, since we have
ubuntu-vm-builder, this is not as strong a requirement as it would have
been otherwise.

I think that some of the readers might jump directly jump to the section
they think they need without reading the rest, so it might be a good
idea, yes.
