any software/project out there which helps re-brand the OS?
is it possible?
if it is, then will it break any Apps? or utilties?
I would like to have some other name (for e.g. xxxyy) in outputs like these...

I do not mean to minimize credit to dvelopers of this good system, I am ok if it has a utility (say for e.g.) "basedon". so you will do:

$basedon

xxxyyy OS based on: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.2.0-49-generic x86_64)

$ uname -a
Linux mysrvr 3.2.0-49-generic #75-xxxyy SMP Tue Jun 18 17:39:32 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

but i like to see the name xxxyy whereever "ubuntu" is displayed....
