Install Question

Hi,

when I install a ubuntu server onto a VM, I get asked about network details
and choose "configure later". Lubuntu still uses the alternate install, but
on this we do not get asked to set up network later. This means the install
ignores the data on the CD and then goes hunting on the automatically found
internet connection and then downloads all the stuff already on the ISO. I
know this is not 'strictly' your area, but do have any hints as to why it
auto-seeks and finds remote, instead of actually using the darn fine ISO?
