Hi All,
I just feedback to the organizer and here is his response.
Darrel Chua:
We should not be worried about it for now and you should quickly
get in touch with the core Ubuntu/Canonical team and update them on
Singapore's effort in Software Freedom Day. Refer them to our website
http://www.softwarefreedomday.sg and also list the activities and
sponsors we have. The scale that we are planning is bigger than many
countries and this being the inaugural event in Singapore, we should
aim to create a big bang,
Since Novell and Red Hat will have
major presence, i think it is only appropriate to have big presence on
Ubuntu. This is good opportunity for Team Ubuntu Singapore to shine
and get approved on this event alone. We expect publicity from
newspapers, media and TV (with some luck). Please let me know if I can
help by speaking to them.
here's what i have in mind:
- I already have 200 pcs of Ubuntu 8.04 desktop discs with me. I will pass to your team to hand out on that day
- have marketing materials ready: banners, posters, brochures, flyers
- have installed Ubuntu ready for demo (showcase compiz etc)
- have 2-3 person ready to man a Ubuntu booth (which I am most happy to allocate)
- giveaways (cheaper accessories like stickers, badges, pins)
- sell higher price merchandizes?
Hope to hear your confirmation on taking up the booth and manning it.
Let me know if you can fulfill those ideas listed above.
Also if we can officially put Ubuntu (or Canonical) logo in as participant in website and all collaterals.
-- END OF MAIL --
This is a big event and the first for Singapore. I'm still awaiting reply from Billy and his view. I would like to meet up with the team to discuss issues regarding Software Freedom Day Singapore.
Koh Suhaw, will you be available to provide ideas? John, are you able to contribute? Chew, appreciate if you could come with a logo or banner design for our booth. Billy, need you to contact Canonical about this event.
C'mon guys, let's make this the first activity for us and a step towards more contribution for the community.
Best Regards,
Heidir
