Well, I think that it is a question of when, not if, we will be
approved. Singapore is a rich, 1st-world country, and the bar is set
higher for us. But we have had several significant events, and if we
couple that with a good road map, we will succeed.
Recognition by government and industry are key to success for Ubuntu
here as in other countries. I doubt that official recognition from
Canonical depends on it to start with. It seems to me that Canonical
giving us official recognition is what leads to increased attention
from other elements in society.
Gaining backers in the NLB, in education, and so forth are all
important. From reading the meeting notes that Nick linked, and
looking at the applications, I think we are ahead of the game, at
least relative to Galicia and Mali.
Before our meeting, I'll put some more time into sprucing up the
application with some more pictures and such. We can also bandy about
some road map ideas in advance by using the forum. From there, we
should have a solid application by the time of the next Loco board
meeting.
