Thats one of the main problem with Windows users jumping to Linux , look

at what was said "I know for consumers, they want to get things up

pretty fast and do not want to go from beginning of maze to the end."

But trying a new tool mean there will be some changes and there will be
some new things to learn. Remember , people complaint about driving test
cars using manuals while most cars come with auto??? These are the kind
of people we are dealing here.

That is unlikely to happen ... teaching people Ubuntu will makes people
get confused with Linux and Ubuntu.. remember , these are the people who
doesn't know windows , they just know where is start button.

We can't help there , blame education system for teaching facts not
teaching how to learn.

 still got printer drivers..

Its been up for a long time now... btw when you get slow download ,
check the link , it may be not from NUS ... I usually get slow updates
from security.ubuntu.com not NUS mirror. NUS mirror is usually blazing.

yah ... its been empty since it was registered :P

It will be ... worse come to worse , I will wear Ubuntu t-shirt...
anyone know where can I get my hand on one of them?

That's some might prefer pre-configured ones. Or that's why Eee choose
Xandros ... I'm not sure is it really legal to bundle those proprietary
codecs inside Ubuntu Linux/Linux Mint in Singapore. Of cos, with pure
ubuntu, we can have another objective. To promote free and open source, as
we all know here, people get educated on proprietary drivers when they want
to install it. We need to educate them what's really wrong with using the
number one IM in Singapore, which everyone know.

And another thing, they still have the dated mindset and thought terminal is
ms-dos.

I think that adapting to changes, is one of the problem that some people are
avoiding mac also. But still there are people who have changed and like mac.
We need to do that. Make people like Ubuntu Linux. We would need to learn to
market well. Ubuntu stands for humanity. :) One good thing over mac, is
ubuntu has livecd and works on pc more than those hacked mac os x does. And
also it shoul runs pretty well on old hardware.

NUS is fast download, but fast till it break connection when I tried last
time, and I keep resetting the updating procedure to download again. It's
up, but whether it's fixed I do not know. Anyway, I'm happy with Taiwan's
one, I would get 1 megabyte per second during certain time.

If the irc channel is empty, might as well don't put reference to it. I went
in there and found no one there ...

The Canonical Store got sell but not sure whether it shipped here or not. Oh
can we make our own Ubuntu T-Shirt here? Maybe can put "Singapore" or
"Ubuntu-SG" word in :) It'll be nice and better.

Printers in Linux is based on CUPS ya? Mac OS X uses CUPS too. Hmm ...
anyway, my Brother Printer and my Mustek Scanner works fine :)

I'm not sure how many people use MultiSync, luckily my phone can sync
Contacts/Tasks/Appointments. It's one of the thing that needs to be improved
for some people who depend on Sync.

I'm not sure whether this year's Software Freedom Day, are there any
distribution points for Ubuntu Cds? Hopefully there is.

Best Regards

John
