I think I need to understand a bit more about the relationship between
this and LP: #2099655.

Are CV3 and CV3 Plus two different models of similar hardware?

It seems (upstream at least) that there are two versions of the same
package (brcm_linux_fp): 5.x and 6.x. However, it appears you wish to
package these two different versions as two different source packages?
While this is doable, we'd typically have something like libfprint-foo-5
and libfprint-foo-6.

Would I be right in assuming that the CV3 is only supported on the 5.x
version and the CV3 Plus is only supported on the 6.x version?

Bug description:
Firmwares and shared libraries for fingerprint support on Dell
  ControlVault3 Plus

  URL: https://packages.broadcom.com/artifactory/dell-controlvault-drivers/
  License: Proprietary
Note: We will also need this to be backported to noble for OEM support. The upstream release versioning is shared with ControlVault3 (non-Plus), as 6.x.x is for CV3 Plus, and 5.x.x is for CV3 (for the package libfprint-2-tod1-broadcom).
