I can play music with Jack and his friends............ ;-))
But i would like to improve the quality of recording, by using a pci esi maya 44... It isn't officially supported by Alsa, but an unofficial patch exists (and works).........
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=868227
The problem is after reinstallig alsa driver (all installation's steps are ok)... The soundcart (maya) works fine, but Alsa loses the control of midi clients... as reported in precending posts...
I don't know if this is a problem of the patch (maybe it isn't) or a problem connected with alsa default settings after the upgrade...
I've tested to upgrade to Alsa 1.0.19 but i've remarqued, as all the time i tryed un Alsa upgrade in Ubuntu, that it isn't simple, I had always a problem... and the solution isn't in the web... or I can't find it....
For example what is the difference between alsa-driver and alsa-base !!?? And why !!??
Anyway, if there is someone who can help me.............. Thanks a lot.............. Bye.
