abilities to play files/formats that normal ubuntu does not include by
default. the idea of ubuntustudio is more for creation of content (making
your own music, graphics, video, etc...) rather than playing any and all
content. it might be that the ubuntustudio site needs to make that more
clear, helping make it known that its more of a multimedia creation OS than
an OS you would run on your TV as a media center to play music and videos
(not that you cannot add that functionality easily with the suggestions in
this thread). have a look at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats to more understand why
ubuntu does not include these abilities in the operating system 'out of the
box'. thanks.
