Gosh I hate XFCE. How would an XFCE desktop compare to Mate {or Gnome Compatability) and Gnome 3 performancewise?

I run Gnome 3 for general desquetop use, which totally negates the whole point of having a low latency kernel I know and Gnome Compztabily mode for doing audio werk.
