Hi Devon,
you need to describe the issue more precisely. What exactly do you do?
What software do you use to do it? What exactly happens?
Where do you move files from one folder to the other? Do you for
example open two instances of a file manager, e.g. Thunar and then do
you try to move files from one window that opened a folder on one
partition, to another window opening a folder on another partition, by
moving them with the mouse pointer? Are you doing it with user or root
privileges?
If you do so, does e.g. the file manager disappear, or minimize or isit
moved to another workspace? Assumed you are using a file manager and it
should disappear, in a terminal run
sudo ps up $(pgrep -d, -x thunar)
^^^^^^
^^^^^^ replace "thunar" with any other name
of software you're using
and copy and paste/post the full command + it's complete output.
Assumed you should use Thunar for this task, check it by taking a look
at the menu Help > About , don't continue using Thunar. Thunar is
known to be buggy and to often cause loss of data, when moving/copying
files.
What release of Ubuntu Studio are you using? In a terminal run
lsb_release -rc
and copy and paste/post the full command + it's complete output.

Ralf
