[ubuntu-studio-users] Start menu and other issues

I have just installed UBS 16.04, well actually re-installed...twice.

There are a couple issues.

The first, and why I installed 3 times.

I don't know the formal name for the UBS icon in the upper left corner the
functions like the Start button in windows. In the UBS case, clicking on it
opens the window where you can select programs to run or open a tree view
to select from similar programs (i.e. Audio Production, or Development)

In any case, I opened it and selected the settings icon. Then selected the
Menu Editor.

I added the program I wanted to the Development branch and saved and exited.

Now clicking on the UBS icon has lost the Audio Production, Video
Production, branches ans several others. Now there is a Graphics and
Multimedia branch. But, if I go back to the Menu Editor the original
branches are there but no contents.

The menu editor is MenuLibre.

Any idea if there is a revert option? I've not found anything.

On a different note. There is a firewire port on this PC. But, UBS doesn't
seem to load the os module for it.

This new behavior for me...I have, with arms length, at least 3 PC's that
have firewire cards and they just worked OOTB. :(

I know I found a write up a while ago that had all the trouble shooting
commands for firewire...but, it's been so long since I had any issues it's
lost. If anyone can point me I'd appreciate the help.

Is this a chipset issue?
FireWire (IEEE 1394) : VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6306/7/8 [Fire
II(M)] IEEE 1394 OHCI Controller (rev 80) (prog-if 10 [OHCI])

Mac
