[ubuntu-studio-users] where to install virtuel Instruments ?

hi ubuntu-studio-users, 

have sean some interesting virtual instruments like Hammond B3 and much
more, but in which directory should or must they be installed ?
The most of that virtual Instruments are available as plugins or as a
standalone-Package.

Which one should I prefer ?

And how canI use that for example in lmms or other DAW's ? These things
are my first steps in installing of such plugins. Does anyone have some
experiences with such plugin-installs ?

In the Readme there is only the hint, that the plugin is available
under LV2-Plugins. But how can I find LV2-Plugins in lmms for example ?

Hope for some experiences for handling these plugins. All of that are
available for linux.
