Hello!

As usual, I got your email in my spams (thanks to filters I can read it),
so I guess that will not have many replies :/

About the video, I watched that it when it was released, I remember that
the community answered him in comments.. But by checking the comment
section again I find out that he disabled it, so I guess that I'll share my
thoughts here without getting deep in the details, that'll really waste
everybody's time..

# Malwares:

1. Only GOD knows how he installed that Imagination software..
2. The project download page offer a Linux & a FreeBSD version, no windows
version, that prove that there is something wrong with he's example..
3. Let's suppose that he used a bad installer that he find from an
untrusted source on the net, even if this was true those malwares have no
effects on his OS.. They can't harm his OS or any other Linux user..

I have a Linux based Mail server, you can imagine how much spams I get each
day containing malwares.. Only the Windows clients (Outlook) can have
issues if somehow the user opened that spam accidentally (Thanks GOD I have
few Windows Clients)..

This doesn't mean that there is no viruses targeting Linux, there is, but
usually they can't affect you if your OS is well updated.

# Defrag

AFAIK, the EXT4 FS is designed to not need to be defragmented for a regular
usage, for some, let me say "extreme",cases you may need to do that, this
little paragraph from KernelNewbies[1] can better explain that (if you have
better links please share!)

# Reboot

If you updated a software all you need is to restart that software to use
the new version, that's why when you update Apache, OpenSSH or any other
service (usually on servers) the service restart/reload after updating..

The Kernel is an other story, since Linux 4.0 you can live patch your
Kernel (no idea what distro allow this for their servers Kernels, afaik
Ubuntu don't ship versions with this feature yet, again if anyone know a
distro that ship this feature to the servers users I'll be interested to
know more about those).. But before Kernel 4.0 there was ksplice from
Oracle that can do that (if you pay for it)..

But hey! If you're a Desktop user, how many days you'll go without
rebooting your machine? My best score was 60 days..

# Disk swapping

I swapped disks (Ubuntu inside) between many hardware before, always no
issues.. I believe that the trick here is some feature related to fstab..
Just like Linux default kernel version, if fstab shipped with your distro
use only UUID, all you need is to use a text editor to fix it.. But if your
shipped fstab version have the /dev mapping feature then you won't need
anything..
