The Ubuntu will see it as serial USB. can u give output of lsusb  and version 
of Ubuntu ur running.

most likely will work with command like

(support PCMCIA CDMA 1xEVDO (YISO Wireless) of Zantel)

modprobe usbserial vendor=0x0eab product=0xc893

where output of lsusb

Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0eab:c893  YISO Wireless


then u should see on dmesg output the loaded serial like /dev/ttyUSB0 etc!!
