I've marked about 3 or 4 bugs as duplicates of this.
Caroline, it isn't actually a problem with the Flash non-free
download. As mentioned by Paul there was an error when backporting the
newer version from Edgy.
Llywelyn, it's reasonably easy to fix the bug, if you find the steps
in the forum. It was as simple as something along these lines:
sudo sed 's/multiuser/defaults/' /var/lib/dpkg/info/flashplugin-nonfree.postinst
sudo dpkg --configure -a
This will prompt you to re-download the plugin and everything should be fine.
