Hello, Dianne.

You could, of course, just use Gnome's VFS (on the Desktop menu):

	Places/Connect to Server/Public FTP
or:
	Places/Connect to Server/FTP (with login)

Personally, I use SSH for this (encrypted) unless I'm connecting to a 
public FTP server.
