I know you are already aware that there is a Linux version, but I
thought it worth re-iterating the point. The _native_ Linux version has
none of the performance or graphical glitches you mention. It's as
perfect as the native Windows version. 

It's really worth looking again to see if you can find the install
CDs/DVDs because you'll really notice the difference.
