Not sure how well it will fit your requirements, but openDB
(http://opendb.iamvegan.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page) may well be
a good starting point if you are looking to hack something together? I
used it a while back in an effort to keep trak of my DVD collection, and
didn't have any problems with it.
