[ubuntu-uk] BBC video and Firefox etc?

I had the same problem and it was happening on an increasing amount of 
websites I visited.

What I did was install VLC and made it the default for firefox:
http://www.ubuntugeek.com/install-vlc-media-player-in-ubuntu.html

The command below installed everything in one go:
udo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-esd

Never have a problem with any website streaming media now :-)
