Is he asking for worship software, or something to automatically put
the "lyrics" up on a screen or similar?

That's how I read it -- I know that often in churches you'll have
screens which give the congregation the words they should be singing.

Karaoke software, or similar, would no doubt be appropriate if you
knew how to program the midi and lyrics into it.  But no idea what's
available for Linux, if anything.
