[ubuntu-uk] Unpredictable

I have some sympathy with DaveG's comments about things breaking when 
you upgrade.

Up to Ubuntu 8 (not quite sure of the decimals) USB and card reading all 
worked fine.  When I installed Karmic, the auto-mount failed, and the 
proffered solution was to install usbmount, which worked fine.

Along comes Lucid, and lo! usb and card reading gets mangled (everything 
is mounted as root, and even she cannot unmount).  The solution? 
Uninstall usbmount.

Much though I love Ubuntu, I do get irritated by its habit of perching 
custard pies above doors.
