[ubuntu-uk] Lost internet usage in Ubuntu 9.04

I have had a few more times of not being able to access the Internet 
from 9.04.

So I decided to have a look at what was running via the System Monitor, 
and then decided to uninstall tor to see if that would help, and the 
moment I uninstalled it when I could not access the Internet or the 
router, my Internet access was back.

So hopefully tor was the culprit. I want to have, as much as possible, 
some anonymity (not because of doing anything wrong, but for privacy 
concerns), and if tor is going to mess up my connection then what 
alternatives can I use?
