would be really cool to make a dent in the operating system usage stats for
the UK! Of course I'm not just limited to computer fairs any of you could
browse to www.cliftonts.co.uk and snap up a new or second user machine.
It's a but basic and a little raggy at the edges right now but the
framework is there to be fleshed out.
My first sale went soso, I got some business cards out there and touched
base with some people, got rid of a few CDs but didn't actually sell any
machines. Firstly if you attended a computer fair regularly and knew all
the guys there would you part with £100 to some new guy on the trust he
will be there to honour the warranty next time? Of course not, these things
take time. It was also experimental, some of my materials hadn't arrived
yet (banners, business cards, I had to hand out my PAT testing ones instead
lol) and I was learning about what I should and shouldn't be doing.
Right now I'm putting together playlists of music and videos demoing Ubuntu
so that the machines put on a bit of a show rather than being static. I'm
at the Bristol fair on Sunday so pop along and say hi if you're local.
Oh and thanks for taking an interest and showing your support.
