How is it that you want to control the light? If it doesn't have to be
in response to some event on the computer I'd recommend getting a
physical switch.

If you do want programatical control it might be possible to achieve
it with the USB power management stuff, but that is more intended for
control over the power usage of the USB subsystem before it's gets as
far as attached devices and I don't know if the power lines will be
shut down with the logic or not. Normally power management for attached
devices would be done with stuff on the device.
