[ubuntu-uk] Networking help

I havent done networking before,
but want to share files and folders on my ubuntu14.04 machine with other computers.

If I set up a network under my master user name
but then someone else logs into the computer
will the files be accessible from other computers?

Is Samba the way to go,
or is there a nice easy GUI frontend?
