Yeah, GAIM can do IRC, just go to Accounts --> Add/edit --> Add then choose
Protocol:IRC and it should have the default server be irc.freenode.net, then
just make up a nick, then select Add Chat --> IRC then
Channel:#ubuntu-chicago
thats it
