[Ubuntu Chicago] log-monitoring tools

Dear Ubuntu-Chicago,

Do any of you know of any log-monitoring tools to let you know of system
errors, failed login-attempts, etc?  Also, as long as I'm asking, do any of
you have any cron jobs set up to rotate your log files that you'd be willing
to share?

I'm operating a system-critical server that requires 17 9's of uptime, so I
want to make sure I know if it is having any problems while it is sitting in
my closet at home.  Thanks,
