You basically have 15 to 20 minutes to say what you wanna say. You do not
wanna give them all...you wanna give them enough to want to know more.
You say it is an OS, you have to explain what an OS, you say it is free and
open, you have to explain what that means. Look at the Mac ads...in under a
minute they say Mac does not have viruses, it is secure, it communicates
instantly with peripherals. If you watch the mac ads...you insert the words
linux and everything fits. They do not explain the license, the kernel, the
price.
I would touch on the open source part, though. You have to. IMHO, if Mac
is the cool kid, PC is the rich kid...Linux is likely the rebel. The
brooding James Dean who struggles to identify with his parents (Unix and
Stallman), picked on by the cool kids (Mac), and crapped on by authority
figures (MS). That brooding kid with the red jacket and cigarette is about
to rock your world. ;)
