Hi All,

I wanted to send out a brief note regarding the global bug jam, set to start
a February 20th, a week from this Friday. I've put the basic details
regarding the jam up on the team wiki page (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ChicagoTeam/Projects ), so feel free to take a look
at the page for some of the information. Here's a couple of additional
items, though.

*Attendance*

   - Please RSVP so that we can ensure building access for everyone who
wants to attend. An attendance sheet is up on the wiki (see link above),
but feel free to just post here if you don't know how to edit the wiki. If
you reply here, PLEASE PROVIDE THE DETAILS FROM THE WIKI ATTENDANCE SHEET,
though. It will help us plan.
   - Do other groups know about the event? If you're a member of a
different local LUG or programming group, please share info regarding this
event with those groups. Anyone who wants to come together to work on bugs
that weekend is welcome to show up.
   - What time(s) do people want to be working on stuff? I was thinking of
having us get started at about 7:00-7:30pm on Friday, and officially ending
for the night at around 12:00. (Either Evan or Alex - our Centro employees
   - need to be there when we are there.) I suggest that we get back together
at about 10:00-10:30 the next day - but I'm not sure of wrap-up time for the
day on Saturday. 5:00? 7:00? Not sure about Sunday, either. 3 days of
bug triage? I might explode. What do people want to do, and what is cool
   with Evan and Alex?

*We need to bring stuff. Here's list of items that I think we'll need:*

   - Power strips (bring one if you have one, just to be on the safe side)
   - ISO Images (either on CD, usb, or just on your hard disk to burn to a
cd...) of the latest nightlies of k/x/ubuntu. (We can get these from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com but should get them from our homes before the
session ). That way we can install the most recent versions onto virtual
machines or bare metal! \m/ rock \m/
   - ethernet cables (not sure of the wireless situation at the location,
but I'll check on it. still - to be safe, bring an ethernet cable if you
   have one)
   - router(s) - just in case. I'll bring my router. Anyone else have a
   spare one they could bring?
   - food & beverage - what kind of food would people want? I suggest we
get pizza from across the street (lou malnatti's) at some point during the
bug jam, but we'll also need snackies. We're keeping this on the
family-friendly side, so we won't have any group-purchased alcohol.
21-and-over for anyone who does consume will be enforced.
   - music - a boombox or something to play beethoven while we serenly file
   and triage bugs.

*Activities*

   - Yes, we'll be triaging bugs, but we'll need some sort of an occasional
distraction. I'll see if they have a projector there - maybe we could put
on a movie? Can we set up a small fish bowl filled with goldfish crackers
so that we can immitate google offices (
   http://www.nuacco.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/1205439846_google_013.jpg)?
 Other ideas are welcome.
   - Perhaps we could set up a kind of contest for us?

Please feel free to share your suggestions here. I'll be collecting some of
these details on the wiki, too. Thank you for your help, and ideas
everyone.

Jim
