Hi All,
I just wanted to send out a quick thank-you note to folks for making
it out to the Global Bug Jam this weekend. I don't have an exact
count on participants, but I would say that at least 20 people spent
some portion of their weekend at Centro's offices, hacking on bugs.
I particularly want to thank Evan Farrar and Alex Rakoczy, who got
approval to let us host the event at their company's offices, and then
stuck around to work on bugs and make sure we could get in the
building and make it over to the bathroom across the hall. Thanks for
your efforts, and please also pass along our thanks to the
powers-that-be at Centro for letting us use your offices over the
weekend.
As for "how we did," the five-a-day stats page seems to be not really
working correctly for right now (it now shows us in fifth place, ahead
of the Michigan team, but this weekend it showed us behind the
Michigan team, who was in first place), but it's safe to say that we
triaged and fixed a lot of bugs. We had some good times listening to
Luca's international tunes, Eddie's Bob Dylan songs, and Dan's
futuristic raps, but we were also quite productive. Go us. :)
Looking ahead, there is an open-source conference at UIC called
Flourish that will be held on April 3rd and 4th. In the past we have
had an Ubuntu table set up at the event, but we don't have to be
limited to that for this year. (It's not like just having a table at
the event is bad or something, though.) If you have any ideas for
participation at the conference, don't be afraid to share them.
Best,
Jim
