Hello everyone,

Karmic Koala is due to be released in under two weeks (November 29).
It is time for us to begin planning our Karmic release party. Looking
at the calendar, it appears that we have two weekends that we could
possibly use for the event. We could either hold our release party on
the weekend of November 7th/8th or 14th/15th. In the past, we have
held our release parties at the Institute of Design [1]. The Institute
of Design has plenty of space, a nice projector, free wireless
internet, and allows us to bring in food and beverages. I talked with
Kevin, and he said that we would be unable to hold our release party
at the Institute of Design if it is on the 8th or 15th. We could
possibly hold it there if we have the party on the 7th (it would
depend on the time of the party). His preference was to hold it on the
14th because there is a LUG meeting at the Institute of Design at 3:00
PM. Holding the event on the 14th would also have the additional
benefit of possibly allowing Richard Johnson (nixternal) to attend, as
he will be returning from his month-long bike ride earlier that week.

We are not locked into this date or location. We have several other
locations [2] that we could possibly use for our event if we wish to
hold it on a different day and/or at a different location. I would
like to get some feedback from the rest of the LoCo about what date
and location would work best for everyone.

For this release party, we are also interested in having some
presentations from some new faces. If you are interested in giving a
presentation at the release party, please say so. There are no
restrictions on the type of presentations that can be given. However,
please try and make an effort to have the presentation be at least
loosely related to Ubuntu.
