World of Padman is really cool. Its a game using the GPLed Quake 3
engine. Graphics are slightly dated since its a pre-2000 graphics
engine but the level designs are incredibly detailed.
There is a freeware game called Beyond The Red Line that uses the
Freespace 2 engine on the GPL. It is a Windoze game but it uses OpenGL
and OpenAL and might be usable under Wine and/or Crossover Linux. BTRL
is a 1st person space sim set in the universe of the Sci-Fi Channel
Battlestar Galactica series. All of the visuals and sound effects mimic
the look and feel of the series and even the flight characteristics of
the Vipers and Cylon Raiders match those of the series. If you run
Windoze apps in VMware Fusion this game will take advantage of 3D
acceleration because its native OpenGL.
Unreal Tournament 2004 should also run under Linux also. Is there a
native Linux version or do you need Wine for it?
