Give the tutorial a name like "How to access root control" and then have it
stress the dangers of using root, prior to opening the door and giving the
new user their wings.  At that point, if they screw it up, they've nobody to
blame but themselves.

If such a thing is put on the desktop of every new install and made very
obvious to the new user, it might mitigate the overall problem from both
sides.   It's a bit longer view for solving the problem, but I think it's a
good idea.
