Anyways, you guys have brought up a very good point in talking about having
a tutorial on the desktop for root access.  In general, linux IS very
different from windows in the sense that installing anything requires root
access and the general configuration of the file-system is much different as
well.  There has been some discussion in the past to have a splash-screen to
welcome new users upon first boot offering a general tutorial to the system,
but as far as I have heard it simply never had enough people to jump on the
project to get it rolling.

You should SERIOUSLY consider creating a blueprint for this in launchpad and
on a wiki-page, submitting it to the correct people, and try to get it
pushed into Hardy or Hardy+1.
