Not a G4, but I have an ancient iMax (original TV shaped one) running
an early version of ubuntu ppc
Biggest problem is that stuff like flash is not available for ppc.
That said, it makes a nice little email, browser, mp3 player - not bad
since it was saved from a dumpster.
Fluxbuntu rocks - I run it under windozeXP/virtualbox at work so I can
have a true linux command line environment and run remote X
applications. I only give it 512Mb of RAM and 10GB of virtual disk.
Runs great and even works thru a VPN and MS-Remote Desktop
