That can be challenging.  I remember the first time I went to give a
presentation (I was using Mepis Linux at the time) and like a fool I just
assumed it would work.  Nope.

I do, however, use Gutsy on an almost daily basis with a few of the
projectors at school.  The trick is to connect everything up, turn on the
projector and then turn on the laptop.  I remember trying to find a bigger
fix and deciding that my way of coping was probably good enough for now.
