[CoLoCo] Perhaps part of the psychology of Free

I have a problem with 7.10. I've hit upon this problem before and did a
full re-install and am hoping I don't have to do that again.
On boot up I get a message that says /dev/sda1 has been mounted 36 times
without being checked, check forced. And then fsck start going. It gets
about 25.8% done and freezes. No hard drive activity and no further
progress is shown. Right now it's been running for about an hour with
nothing happening.
Is there anyone who knows how to get around the forced fsck?
