I don't think it's a grub issue. In fact, I'm sure it isn't. Ubuntu boots to
a point. If it was a grub issue it wouldn't. I've been searching and I may
have found the answer. I need to reinstall udev. At least that's my working
theory. I have no idea why or what would have been changed or even what udev
is but that's what I'm finding.

Actually, it could be somewhat grub related. Grub points to md1 to boot as
it should be maybe I goofed up the path or name for md1 with the various
--add and --remove.
