You claim that Microsoft is pushing their own proprietary crap, but 
since when is flash "not" proprietary crap.  I'd contest that 
silverlight, with it's moonlight linux counterpart developed by Miguel 
de Icaza of mono fame, is more open than flash.  Sure people have 
reverse engineered flash to make gnash and swfdec, but to claim that 
flash is some kind of open standard is ludicrous.  It's just proprietary 
crap that's been around longer and happens to have a linux binary, 
albeit a bit crappier than the windows port.
