Tried Hardy on two IBM R40 laptops today...
Installs no problem, except it forced me to install a /boot sector
because of error (Grub error 18)
Once I reinstalled with a 512MB /boot sector, the system will get past
grub, but immediately fails to boot. All I get is the following error:
starting up ...
This kernel requires the following features not present in the CPU:
0:6
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.
With an error like 0:6, at least I know what was wrong, lol. Its nice
that Linux does not have cryptic error messages like Windows (yes this
is sarcasm, even MS does not know what the error message means most of
the time).
So, whomever asked about Hardy's stability, here is one not so good
vote. Bug already filed.
