[CoLoCo] Best backup solution (AMANDA)

I don't have much experience with other solutions for a real
comparison, but if you're going to be backing up a large number of
hosts and you don't want to spend any money I think that AMANDA is the
only way to go. Even if you are willing to spend some money I'd still
look at AMANDA or ZMANDA, which is a commercial support option with a
few extra features. If you have firewalls then figuring out exactly
which ports in which direction need to be opened. The ports work
something like ftp where the initial communication is over a defined
port, but the actual data will be over some subset of random ports.
Otherwise it is just learning the config syntax and figuring out the
same stuff that you'd need for any backup solution. i.e. What hosts
and what data REALLY need to be backed up, how long do we need to keep
the data, what kind of media are we going to store it on, etc.
