Something like that, yes. It's not a big problem that it's old. The
problem is that we have too many compilers in main which is a
maintenance nightmare.

That's the way it works already.

VirtualBox, like kvm, uses qemu's device model, and nothing else, AFAIK,
and it's only the cpu emulation stuff that requires the older gcc, so
no.
