[CoLoCo] Pictures on CDs

Ken,

I was going to recommend Photo CD, but it seems to have fallen out of vogue.  Then, I
was going to recommend "authoring" a regular Video DVD or Video CD, but they invariably
change the images to fit the format of the presentation, and they're labor intense,
especially the first few times through...  So, what do I recommend, then?  In a
nutshell, I recommend with only slight bias, that you "do it the easy way".

0. DON'T modify the pictures that originally came off the camera.  Create copies for
processing, instead.  Processing software will always get better, and you'll be glad you
can go back to the originals.

1. Save copies of your pictures to a portable format like JPEG, if needed.
2. Rename your pictures so that they appear in the order you want, if needed.
3. Burn the pictures straight to the root folder of the CD or DVD using whichever app
you like best.  Anything will do it; it's a simple job.

That disc will work nicely in Windows, Linux, and most DVD players.

If you're into production, you won't be satisfied with that, though.  You'll want to
make a nice slideshow, set it to music, and publish that to a Video DVD or Video CD.  If
that's your bent, try Varsha, DeVeDe, or whatever's on the UbuntuStudio disc.
