Ditto.  I lost interest somewhere near the beginning of disc 2, 
and the FF8 demo was tedious, so I kinda gave up on the series.  
If I recall correctly, casting a spell took about as long as 
running "make bzImage", and was about as interesting.

I'm guessing the MMORPG aspect makes it a totally different game.  
But why bother when you've got IRC?  :)  There's not much 
potential for advancement, but if that matters you can play the 
karma game on launchpad.  I think it beats mucking about with 
spells and armor and materia.
