[CoLoCo] Dilemma?

lemme backup hear, i'm have'n PROBLEMS upgrade'n/install'n 9.04 on an  
OLDE Dell Inspiron 6000 :(

me-mini's run'n 9.04 "peachy"

i can KNOT seem 2 get a CD/DVD 2 BOOT (think'n an outdated BIOS?)

when i change boot sequence 2 USB, it'll start 2 install but then i  
receive "ubiquity" CRASH :(

CRASH can KNOT be report'd due 2 OBSOLETE package versions, check;  
udev, libvolume-id1...........,

THEN the notebook ONLY runz in "LIVE" mode :(

i'd like 2 fig'r HOW-2 simply install from ANY Disc (CD oar  
DVD)..........,

am i 2 CONFUSED hear?!?!?!?!?
