Hi Jerry, we are also new to Ubuntu and we are in the process of changing
our school, Prek-12 over to Ubuntu. We have Dell Latitude D600 and 800
laptops. I haven't yet built the 600, but when I do, I'll check the
shutting down issue. I haven't noticed any problems with the 800 series.
We are still in the process of building the server. Are you networking
yours with a file server? Did you set up users, groups, and folder security
through Ubuntu?
