Does anyone know of a good way in Ubuntu 10.04 to force a logout after a certain period of inactivity.
OK, every time this question seems to get asked, the same answer comes up... So let me address this answer now:
NO, I AM NOT WILLING TO JUST LET THE PERSON LOCK THE SCREEN, IF THAT WAS ACCEPTABLE, I WOULD NOT BE ASKING FOR AN AUTOMATIC LOGOUT!!!
ok, rant over.
I have a kid that keeps hitting CTRL-L to lock the screen. Not sure where he learned that, cuz I didn't even know that keyboard shortcut until he showed it to me. I tried yelling, screaming, and locking him out (telling him that this sometimes happens when I have to kill his sessions when he does not log off), nothing works. Short of grounding him from the computer, I don't know what else to do.
I tried looking online, but none of the solutions I found there worked (including changing the key binding, but Ubuntu did something goofy and that solution did not work), and of course every time the question was asked some idiot said "well just lock the screen", errrrrrr. I have limited resources on this computer, I don't need 3 and 4 X sessions going at once. If the kid is not on the computer for 30 minutes, I want it to lock him off. Simple. But apparently the changes to X have made this not so simple.
Ideas??
