[CoLoCo] Ultimate set top box?

I've been waiting for years for the perfect set top box and it seems like it
should be out there somewhere. I've used the Roku player and an older
version apple TV. All I want is a little box that streams Netflix but also
plays my large library of music and movie files from an external (or large
internal) HD. I don't care about surfing the web (like Google TV) watching
Hulu, etc. I thought maybe the new Roku player might work but it won't play
FLAC files or ALAC and probably won't play certain video codex either but
haven't explored that. I've thought about the Boxee box but it's pricey and
no Netflix. Western Digital makes a few devices but as far as I know they
don't do Netflix either.
Is there something out there I'm overlooking? Running on Linux would be
preferable, but really just something that works. The new Apple TV is no
good as it requires iTunes running on a computer somewhere (so not really
all that energy efficient) and I find streaming to be less than perfect.
Has anyone tried the new Roku XDS? Thoughts? And what's with the clothing
tag?
Thanks.
