Good news! A district NW of Phoenix AZ has saved a lot of money with Linux!

Dysart Unified School District saves more than $100,000 by switching computer operating systems

I loved this quote:

The Arizona Department of Education outlined its long-range
technology goals last April, which required school districts and
charter schools to consider open-source technology when developing
  district technology plans.

From the district itself:
Ed Tech - Linux is here!

From looking at some of the screenshots, it looks like a customized
version of Fedora.

Any news from the folks here that have been helping schools switch?

Cheers,
